Complete 3 Rewrites in 6 Weeks on Your Existing Script. Five Meetings with Founder Jeffrey Gordon (JG)–email jg@writersbootcamp.com to sign up.
This special 6-Week Rewrite for alumni only will meet on Mondays via zoom. Meetings are five consecutive Mondays: 7/25, 8/1, 8/8, 8/15, 8/22 with a submission deadline of 8/29 for evaluation and conference. Per usual, the only prerequisite is the 10 hours of writing per week.
You can take any existing feature film or TV pilot script through three rewrites in this special session.
In addition to guiding you through your determination of one Component Rewrite Objective, you will address two separate Craft Rewrites, orbiting a complete pass of Scene Work twice.
The 90-minute, weekly meetings with JG will include:
–Identifying Common First Draft Problems
–Excising the Worst Scene Work & Script Page Hitches
–The Components that Comprise a Complete Concept
–Articulating the Main Source of Fresh Entertainment
–The Obviously Missing Story Components
–The Traits of TV in the Platinum Age
–The Crucial Keys to Defining Your TV Series
–Establishing Main Character Rooting Interest
–Developing a Character-Driven 2nd-Act Adventure
–How Intimacy in Storytelling is More Than Physical
–Cultivating Stronger Scene Ideas and Scene Conduct
–15 Simple Enhancements to Your Writing Style
We’ll start with an overview of The Two Levels of Rewriting–Component & Craft Rewriting–to help each writer reset individual project goals. Of session, for recent Basic Training writers and Pro Member alumni, this will be a refresher.
–A Component Rewrite requires 20-40 hours to bring one layer of new or more deeply articulated material to the existing draft. Early rewrites are not even pertinent without identifying and bringing new scene ideas, new interactions and encounters between characters, new stages of relationship progression, and new events that represent increments of the specific kind of adventure to the 2nd Act.
–A Craft Rewrite, also referred to as “Highlighting” (as Pro Members will recall) is an entire orbit of the script for any one of up to 50 different exercises to enhance one’s writing on the page (Scene Work). We won’t cover all 50 in this session, though at least 15 of the most common and irksome Scene Work issues.
The special rate is one payment of $1295, or $1495 for any monthly payment plan. You’ll see a standard payment plan on the sign-up sheet. If Basic Training writers choose to continue past August as Pro Members, your payment plan will be credited toward membership.
