Congratulations to Three Fellowship Winners!

We have selected Lane McLeod Jackson, Jennifer Leeper, and Dave Matli, three deserving winners of the $2500 Fellowship for their Summer Action/Adventure projects, who will start their Basic Training on Tuesday, August 15th.  Each will develop their project from idea through three drafts over the 10-week process.

— Lane McLeod Jackson is from Bayonne by the Bay, he’s got an MA in Theatre and Dramatic literature from the University of Ireland: Galway working in film, theatre, and radio, it’s his deepest wish to become a filmmaker.

—Jennifer Leeper is an award-winning fiction writer, who originally hails from outside of Boston, and currently lives in the Kansas City, Missouri metro area, where she works at using her Journalism degree as a copywriter and aspires to write a novel that will be made into a movie starring Emily Blunt as the protagonist.

—Dave Matli, a past Writers Boot Camp Professional Member, is a design, marketing, brand and product launch expert who’s launched hundreds of products and brands for clients including Disney, Warner Bros, Fox, MGM, Lego, LeapFrog as well as leading product design and marketing teams in a series of blockchain, fintech and AI startups. He lives in the Bay Area and compulsively creates and consumes stories in every form.

As always, the winners were evaluated on a combination of factors, including artistic background, the unique quality and perspective of their answers within their application responses and commentary, and the clarity of conceptual distinctions.  Once the larger field was narrowed down based on the caliber of applications, the winners were selected from the smaller group of highly ranked writers based on the viability and entertainment potential of the project ideas.  In effect, in each Fellowship category the overall quality of application answers will illustrate the writer’s potential to execute the writing quality of their project.
