Staff Search: Membership Director
Create Long Term Opportunity & Community While You’re Writing
Writers Boot Camp seeks another full-time staff person to join our team as Membership Director. In this lead role you’ll oversee new member eligibility and inquiries, connect to top film and television organizations for our diversity alliances and initiatives, and help manage ongoing professional member alumni benefits.
Ideally, the position will be filled by a past Pro Member or Basic Training alumnus. Prose writers and feature-film writers that are writing part-time, 10 hours per week, are welcome to apply.
Aspiring TV writers, while wonderfully clever artists and excellent clients, are not historically a match for this type of longer term staff role due to the lure of writers’ assistant positions, as they become available, and the lifestyle requirements of television staffing.
Candidates will have three to five years experience in a fast-paced creative department and extensive knowledge of the industry landscape. Agency experience is preferred, along with comprehension of systems for maintaining writers lists, internal reports and daily call sheets. Weekly script evaluation is a smaller percentage of the role, through every staff member supports alumni through the script rotation. Extensive script evaluation experience, as well as coverage samples, are helpful, yet continued training is an ongoing part of the position.
Alumni interested may forward a resume by Friday, May 20th–and just a one-paragraph segue to DOD@writersbootcamp.com.
Tips for Reaching Out to Us
–If you’re an alumnus, then we’ll be happy to hear from you regardless. But please don’t apply if your background doesn’t match the above, or come very close due to your work and leadership experience. Of session, we’re always open to a quick question and inquiry if you’re not quite sure.
–When we ask you to keep the email to a paragraph, the emphasis is not on brevity but on impact. A few sentences can quickly add up to 150 words and express a lot.
–Friends and colleagues have always complimented the demeanor and warm disposition of Writers Boot Camp’s staff through the years, so no need to be shy if you truly enjoy communicating and would do well talking with artists and industry professionals as a potential representative of the company.
Additional Resume Notes
If you think JG has a checklist for enhancing your 3-6-3, then imagine his perspective of a resume running a service business for 33 years.
It’s best for readability to keep everything flush left instead of centering, including dates of employment, don’t waste too much space with the typical facets of your various jobs (since the title will usually suffice and it’s only a conversation starter anyway), and keep to the same font family.
Thank you in advance for your interest. Please trust that relevant candidates will be followed up with expediently.
