Saturday Support Starting June 4th
For Our East Coast and European Writers/Filmmakers
The next Basic Training starts Saturday, June 4th at 10am (PST), making it more convenient for writers in the east, New York and London in particular, to participate via zoom. The meeting time translates to 1pm Eastern Time and 6pm in Europe. Office Hours for individual help during the week will conveniently be held mid-day.
Founder Jeffrey Gordon will conduct the Basic Training, including six Saturdays. You can see the schedule here. There will be a “bye” week, skipping July 2nd for Independence Day Weekend, the holiday in the U.S.
The 12-Week Basic Training takes you from a single sentence idea through three drafts of a feature film or TV pilot script. The process covers a couple dozen key Writers Boot Camp terms, tools and exercises, as well as strategies for brainstorming, collaboration and evaluation. Foundational material includes Four Levels of Development: Conceptual Work & Testing, the Fundamentals of Story Structure, Unique Character Development Approaches, and the Five Aspects of Scene Work.
You’ll experience all the benefits of working within a group, primarily learning by analogy, without the problems of typical workshops. And Basic Training writers who become Professional Members in advance of the start date will receive it as a complimentary start, along with the $2500 fee credited toward Pro Membership instead. Payment plans are customizable to make the process even more affordable.
Rosters fill up quickly since we limit acceptance to 18 writers. All you need is a single sentence idea and 10 hours per week for creative exercises and writing time. The meetings are recorded and sent the next morning in case of any absences–or to watch again.
