You’re Invited to “Support the Arts” to Re-Elect Oscar de la Torre to Santa Monica City Council Sunday, Oct. 6th, 3:30-5:30pm at Writers Boot Camp at Bergamot Station Hosted by Jeffrey Gordon & Robert Berman, Bergamot Legacy Gallerist Music by DJ PRF88 Enjoy paella by Le Great Outdoor Compliments of Chef Rudy and Pedro and Skyduster Beer Please RSVP to jg@writersbootcamp.com This invite includes a Plus 1 Please join us to Support the Arts. After the event, Le Great Outdoor invites everyone to join on their patio for a Brazilian dance event. A champion of Bergamot Station through the years, Oscar de la Torre’s recommendation this past February led City Council to a unanimous vote to assist the art galleries–and he has championed our new DNA Festival Santa Monica (DNA stands for Digital New Arts). He has seen the past decade of development that has continually put the arts center at risk and has been a supportive voice. Even as Bergamot Station Arts Center celebrates its 30th anniversary as of this past month, its future and the arts of all kinds in Santa Monica are being threatened. If you are a Writers Boot Camp alumnus, you may recall that we first launched our HQ at Bergamot in 1998, just four years after its founding–and our neighbors at the galleries have been very important to us through the years. Suggested Contribution $50-100 with Maximum Contribution $410 Please help Oscar’s campaign Donate – CLICK HERE Visit his website: www.vote4oscar.org We encourage everyone invited to Support the Arts–and to share this email with friends and colleagues in arts and entertainment. Let’s get the word out for Oscar de la Torre’s re-election to City Council. For perspective, one mailer to the residents of Santa Monica costs $15K. Councilmember Oscar de la Torre was elected in 2020, when the city was on the brink of bankruptcy, without a city manager, or a police chief. His years of leadership as the founder of the Pico Youth and Family Center and a long-time representative on the Santa Monica Malibu program Board gave him the experience needed in the crisis of 2020. He has helped to bring stability to his hometown, and with our help, he will continue to bring the resources and collaboration needed to deliver a safe, vibrant Santa Monica. Oscar continues to live in the Pico neighborhood, along with his wife Maria and their two sons, Oscar Jr. and Fidel. |
