Please honor your RSVP commitment–or don’t RSVP. No shows who RSVP and do not send regrets in advance will be unsubscribed from future events. If you experience a technical issue with your RSVP, it may be that your email does not match your zoom registration. We do not control that process.
Determining Your Creative Voice/Creating & Aligning Your Creative Compass
During this brief Mini-Camp, Writers Boot Camp Founder, Jeffrey Gordon, will impart a method for defining and further refining one’s voice. A writer’s creative voice is mostly comprised of a set of choices. On occasion, the decisions not made can create a default, as well as limit effectiveness.
In many ways, writing is a reflection of self-awareness. While every project may not precisely represent your own life, your personal and editorial slant will be illustrated in the choices and distinctions made in the work. Project selection is certainly a major component of your brand, as well as your knack and affinity for level of characterization, the nature of the action in the story and the nature of interaction between characters. Honoring of genre expectations, or intentionally departing from the form, will indicate your point of view, your take on the material. There will be ample time for Q&A. Feel free to send questions in advance to jg@writersbootcamp.com. Please consider how your question will illuminate insight for the group.
Mini-Camps are an ongoing, included benefit of a writer’s initial commitment to Basic Training and 18 months of participation in the LA Project Groups conducted by JG. Since 1998, Writers Boot Camp has provided support to Professional Members in LA, NY, SF, DC, and JG’s hometown of Chicago. Currently, due to the viability of zoom, writers outside of LA participate within the LA groups. Past One-on-One Professional Members may upgrade and earn Live Pro benefits. We’re expanding to a third Project Group, every other Thursday at 12:30pm (PST), to accommodate the support of past alumni, as well as Basic Training writers who become Pro.
