LGBTQIA+ Fellowship Winners
Congratulations to Three Fellowship Winners!
We have selected August, Sean Hemeon, and Rachel Imbriglio, three deserving winners of the $2500 Fellowship for LGBTQIA+ Month, who will start their Basic Training on Saturday, July 8th. Each will develop their project from idea through three drafts over the 10-week process.
— A nationally touring performance Artist, August’s writing has been published by New Hampshire’s Sargeant Press and anthologized in collections including Wordsmith Press’ “From Stage to Page and Back Again” and “Flicker and Spark: A Collection of Queer Voices”. He spent two decades living as a special educator and teaching Artist before moving from Baltimore, Maryland to pursue screenwriting.
–Originally from Northern Virginia and now residing in Los Angeles, Sean Hemeon is an award-winning actor, screenwriter, and abstract expressionist painter, and after a decades-long absence, he recently completed a BA in creative writing.
—Rachel Imbriglio is a writer/director from the Northeast who, after receiving a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production, has been thawing out in Los Angeles while working as a Casting Director for award-winning TV and film projects, and tells personal stories about underdogs: the unusual, the quirky, the marginalized and the disenfranchised.
As always, the winners were evaluated on a combination of factors, including artistic background, the unique quality and perspective of their answers within their application responses and commentary, and the clarity of conceptual distinctions. Once the larger field was narrowed down based on the caliber of applications, the winners were selected from the smaller group of highly ranked writers based on the viability and entertainment potential of the project ideas. In effect, in each Fellowship category the overall quality of application answers will illustrate the writer’s potential to execute the writing quality of their project.
We’re very happy to support the creative goals of these three winners as they become active alumni in our Writers Boot Camp community!
