Please join us as JG conducts a one-on-one conversation with another outstanding Professional Member, actor-writer-director, Nicki Micheaux!
Nicki Micheaux is an award-winning actress and a visionary director with a fresh take on storytelling. Born and raised in Houston, Nicki dreamed of performing on stage where she developed a love of storytelling and decided to pursue a career in filmmaking. Nicki began as an actor and quickly moved up the ranks to star in the series Lincoln Heights where she received three NAACP Image Award Nominations for Best Actress. Nicki is passionate about creating stories that have the power to inspire, empower, and thrill audiences and honed her writing skills through programs with Writers Boot Camp, UCLA Extension, and Sundance Collab.
Nicki’s first short film VEIL, landed her a spot in the Disney Directing Program. Her feature directing debut of a script written by her is now in release, SUMMER OF VIOLENCE—a story about a young woman’s journey of self-discovery and resilience through the lens of poetry—which has lit up the festival circuit winning Outstanding First Feature at Tallgrass, the Best Picture, and the Audience Award at DTLA Film Festival and was also nominated for the Narrative Feature Jury Award at the prestigious Austin Film Festival. Nicki’s also directing her first documentary, a story about three brothers healing from the trauma of abuse and 30 years of incarceration.
You may forward this invite to friends, colleagues and fellow alumni who will be interested in this topic, especially writers and filmmakers who will benefit from Writers Boot Camp’s support.
If you RSVP and then find you cannot attend, please let us know. While the event is free, the staff and speakers spend much time and effort.
