Alumni Book News

Congratulations to past Pro Member Rob Samborn, author of the new book, The Prisoner of Paradise. The first of a series published by TouchPoint Press, the debut novel is a thriller blended with historical fiction and fantasy. The story follows a man on the brink of insanity who traverses present-day and Renaissance Venice, Italy to save his soul mate from a most unusual purgatory.
Adapted from his own original screenplay that had made many rounds with producers attached who had exhausted their submission list, Rob was inspired to dust off the script during the pandemic in this new form. It’s another great example of how one’s work can be re-purposed and, though briefly set aside on the virtual shelf (read: hard drive), never quite disappears.
Until preparation for our 25th anniversary at Writers Boot Camp, now seven years ago, we didn’t realize that hundreds of alumni had found success in attracting publishing deals for their books and novels through the years. The diligent focus on the highly-structured form of movies and television translated to the unintentional side effects of strong ideas in other forms of writing and enhanced prose.
