10 Steps to Take the Next Step
Free Mini-Camp: 10 Steps to Take the Next Step
as a Professional Writer/Content Creator
Sat., July 13th, 10:30am-Noon (LA Time) via zoom
with Founder Jeffrey Gordon (JG)
Past Pro Members are given priority space–and as space permits to writers referred by alumni and industry colleagues.
An aspiring artist cannot afford to maintain and outsider’s view of professional craft. However, it’s important to reflect on how many writers and our creative friends tend to harbor one pet project for many years instead of delving more deeply into multiple projects at an accelerated pace and the necessary professional-level education.
The distinction of the need to dig deeper and to scale a learning curve as a Pro may be rather obvious–but so is JG’s slogan for the company 35 years ago, “The Secret to Writing is Writing”. The slogan isn’t “write just one draft of one idea over five or six years”. Writers Boot Camp’s emphasis has always been on the commitment of 10 hours per week every week to learn to write 10 drafts of a new project every six months.
Please Join Us for This Opportunity to Discuss the Obstacles to Writing
In this brief Mini-Camp, Writers Boot Camp Founder, Jeffrey Gordon will share 10 comprehensive strategies for how to change your creative life in a short timeframe and how to get past the naive notions of what it means to be a writer. Even experienced writers can be inspired to work through their blind spots to work and create at a higher level, shifting consciousness and applying self-critique to achieve their goals.
With his usual pragmatism and irreverence, JG will share straightforward as well as counter-intuitive strategies that have empowered breakthroughs and epiphanies over the past 35 years–including how to place less value on the volume of pages, how to preserve your potential, the best ways to take advantage of the current industry slowdown, and how to avoid the typical lures of networking, which can prematurely short-circuit your success and reputation.
If you are available to meet in person at our new space at Bergamot Station Arts Center in Santa Monica, email jg@writersbootcamp.com.
Otherwise, RSVP via the zoom link above. We don’t always combine in-person and zoom attendance at Mini-Camps. If we have a dozen RSVPs by July 9th, then we will welcome in-person guests.
The Writer Should Not Be Last to Know Their Project Limitations
A writer’s lack of idea testing, including the failure to compare and distinguish ideas to the lineage of what’s come before, will tend to limit success and creative transcendence. The best writers do not take years and years to get a clearer picture of the process and the profession.
If you have hesitated to go through our 10-Week Basic Training or to become a Pro Member, especially if the obstacle has been primarily financial, then we encourage you to email us to schedule a conversation to stop letting finances be a career obstacle.
